Time flies!

Wow. I sat down this evening to write a new entry and spent a majority of the time adding more music! I'm hooked on that little playlist thingy! I end up playing it a lot at work. I don't know if I could make it through a work day without music.

Last weekend I had my 10 year high school reunion in the hometown of Cannon Falls. Prior to me going, nearly everyone I told about it immediately exclaimed, "Oh my gosh! Are you nervous?!?". Really, I wasn't. I'm not a huge conversationalist, so I was slightly dreading the small talk and the repeated questioning and answering of what we've been doing for the past 10 years, but I wasn't nervous. I didn't have some burning desire of wanting to impress all of my former classmates with a hot new car, or decide I could finally ask out the head cheerleader like they have in the movies. It was just...weird. Nobody really changed. Most everyone looked almost the same they did in high school and nobody had any amazing stories or really cool professions. Maybe the people who have amazing stories and have cool jobs are the ones who have better things to do than to attend class reunions. I don't know. Maybe I'll have something interesting to share with them in another 10 years or something.

I don't really have any relevant pictures, but I think I need to add something, so just added a random picture I've taken.

Giving the thanks

New Music! -- I added some new songs to my playlist. Make sure you check em out! Er..I mixed them up too so you might not actually be able to find the new songs, but they're all good!

In 1621, the colonist of Plymouth celebrated what was arguably the first Thanksgiving. They invited the local Native Americans to the colony and spent 3 straight days with a celebration of food, feasting, and praising God after what was a very bountiful harvest season. Sadly, aside from children creating cornucopias or those funny turkey drawings you make after tracing your hand, most people don't take the time to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday. It's become engulfed by consumerism and for many people, "Black Friday" has become the holiday for them. Thanksgiving is just the free day before the shopping extravaganza. I'm not here to judge. To each their own, but I believe people in general would be happier and the world could very well be a better place if occasionally you just stop worrying about tomorrow; stop dreaming about shiny new toy you want to buy; stop feeling sorry for yourself, and be thankful for what you have. So that's what I'm going to do...give thanks.

  • I'm thankful that I have a family that loves me and would do anything for me, as I would for them.
  • I'm thankful that I have friends who care for me
  • I'm thankful for the roof over my head and the floor under my feet
  • I'm thankful for having a job that I enjoy and am pretty good at
  • I'm thankful for music, both performing it and listening to it
  • I'm thankful for the ability to love
  • I'm thankful for the alarm clock in my room that doesn't care how tired I am, but stays strong with it's loudness
  • I'm thankful for warm comfortable sweatshirts
  • Thank you train driver for getting me to work
  • Thank you hyper lady who never knows what stop we're at
  • Thank you girl who smiles at me every morning. I'm sorry I don't know your name.
Of course this list is incomplete, but I could stay up all night doing this and still not make a dent! I'm thankful for everything in my life, both good and bad. Without the bad, the good isn't as sweet.

Till next time!

So it begins

After a much needed break, I've decided to re-enter the blogosphere. This is my first foray into blogger, but so far I'm liking it. I'm not sure if I'll have a theme for this blog, or even what I'm going to write about. I'm sure most of it will be a stream of consciousness, filled to the brim with incoherent thoughts, ramblings and outrageous opinions, but those thoughts will be my own. So it back, relax to some of my favorite tunes and enjoy!
