Giving the thanks

New Music! -- I added some new songs to my playlist. Make sure you check em out! Er..I mixed them up too so you might not actually be able to find the new songs, but they're all good!

In 1621, the colonist of Plymouth celebrated what was arguably the first Thanksgiving. They invited the local Native Americans to the colony and spent 3 straight days with a celebration of food, feasting, and praising God after what was a very bountiful harvest season. Sadly, aside from children creating cornucopias or those funny turkey drawings you make after tracing your hand, most people don't take the time to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday. It's become engulfed by consumerism and for many people, "Black Friday" has become the holiday for them. Thanksgiving is just the free day before the shopping extravaganza. I'm not here to judge. To each their own, but I believe people in general would be happier and the world could very well be a better place if occasionally you just stop worrying about tomorrow; stop dreaming about shiny new toy you want to buy; stop feeling sorry for yourself, and be thankful for what you have. So that's what I'm going to do...give thanks.

  • I'm thankful that I have a family that loves me and would do anything for me, as I would for them.
  • I'm thankful that I have friends who care for me
  • I'm thankful for the roof over my head and the floor under my feet
  • I'm thankful for having a job that I enjoy and am pretty good at
  • I'm thankful for music, both performing it and listening to it
  • I'm thankful for the ability to love
  • I'm thankful for the alarm clock in my room that doesn't care how tired I am, but stays strong with it's loudness
  • I'm thankful for warm comfortable sweatshirts
  • Thank you train driver for getting me to work
  • Thank you hyper lady who never knows what stop we're at
  • Thank you girl who smiles at me every morning. I'm sorry I don't know your name.
Of course this list is incomplete, but I could stay up all night doing this and still not make a dent! I'm thankful for everything in my life, both good and bad. Without the bad, the good isn't as sweet.

Till next time!
